Artist in residence – Chapbook creating with your grandchild
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM 2023 – BRINGING LIFE TO WORDS
Can a book be written in a day?
The answer is generally no, but after a fun and interactive session with award-winning author Jude Aquilina, you’ll have written poems and stories for your chapbook, and you’ll know how to publish it.
What is a chapbook?
A chapbook is a small, inexpensive booklet between 20 and 40 pages long. Once sold by book peddlers or chapmen to the English working classes, chapbooks are enjoying a revival and selling all over Australia. Modern chapbooks are collections of poetry, memories or stories, often combined with photos.
Discover how to capture stories in your own chapbook
Buddy up with your grandchild (ages eight and above), for an entertaining workshop, where Jude will inspire you both to write about the place where you grew up and where you live now; about family and ancestors or anything special you’d like to preserve for future readers. Find out how to make your writing memorable and entertaining with fun and easy exercises designed to include in your chapbook. Jude will also cover publishing options, from free publishing to self-publishing.
Everyone has a story to tell
Find your inspiration in this fun day of creative writing and creative non-fiction. The workshop is suitable for all levels of writing experience from ‘never written’ to already published. Your story is waiting to be told.
