Poets’ Corner with Jeri Kroll
Poets’ Corner welcomes Jeri Kroll as our guest poet for April.
Jeri is an Emeritus Professor of English and Creative Writing at Flinders University and an Adjunct Professor of Creative Arts at Central Queensland University. She has published extensively on Samuel Beckett, creative writing research and pedagogy, contemporary literature and children’s literature. She has published over twenty-five books for adults and young people as well as critical studies.
Along with Barry Westburg, she edited Tuesday Night Live – Fifteen Years of Friendly Street. For nearly a decade she was a community arts worker and received a Literature Board Community Writer’s Fellowship. She has received numerous accolades, including two Children’s Book Council of Australia Notable Books awards.
Jeri completed her second higher degree, a Doctor of Creative Arts, at the University of Wollongong in 2024. Her recent works include Creative Writing: Drafting, Revising and Editing with Graeme Harper and Vanishing Point, a verse novel, set in South Australia. It was shortlisted for the Queensland Literary Awards and produced in America as a full-length musical drama. That production was a finalist in the Kennedy Centre American College Theatre Festival. Jeri wrote the Prologue for Friendly Street’s recently published 50th anniversary history book Chronicle – The First Fifty Years of Friendly Street.
