The Effective Living Centre welcomes William ‘Bill’ Caulfield as its first Poets Corner guest for 2026.

Bill’s life and poetry are a meld of resilience, curiosity, and reinvention. He was born one of six in 1951 in Dublin Ireland. Here he learned the good, the bad and the sometimes very ugly of surviving, and eventually thriving, within a religious and poverty-stricken culture. He spent his middle childhood in enlightened England where he loved the education, and where exploring the museums of London was the highlight. At thirteen years, he and his family emigrated to Adelaide where Bill describes landing on a strange magical planet that he couldn’t have imagined. Bill’s career included decades of service in youth work and child protection in the Northern Territory. His poetry reflects a lifetime of discovery—exploring consciousness, philosophy, and the beauty of everyday moments. In 2024, he published his first poetry collection Memory Dream.
